About me

The effortless beauty of the English landscape, particularly in Autumn and Winter, has been an endless source of inspiration for me.

Through painting in watercolour I attempt to capture the memories of a childhood spent in the Sussex countryside. Wintery lanes, the stark beautiful South Downs, and more latterly, the countryside of Kent and Dorset, where I now spend my time.

Watercolour is the perfect medium for me, and although incredibly challenging I draw considerable inspiration from masters such as Seago, Wesson, the amazing Rowland Hilder and John Yardley.

My subject matter is always taking me further afield to pastures new in Europe and beyond. I am constantly striving for new challenges and to master those beautiful techniques which watercolour demands.

For me, teaching and demonstrating has become a way of giving back. It keeps me grounded and purposeful, head down and on track, hopefully passing on some of these amazing rewards I know that watercolour can bring.
